What is a license?¶
It is a legal framework that defines the conditions under which content, such as articles, data and posters, can be used, shared, modified or reproduced by others.Clearly associating a license defines what others are allowed to do with the file, reducing misunderstandings or inadvertent violations.
Compliance with increasingly common policies¶
Many institutions and funders encourage or even require the use of Creative Commons (CC) licenses. Adopting a CC license helps you to align with these policies.
